about

This is a collection of MIDI files that I composed using Cakewalk in the mid to late 90's. They were created for Heretic and Hexen mods. Most of them were used on levels that I made with WADED. These tracks were meant to be endlessly looped for your journey.

I ran a site on Hexenworld.org called "Puck's Workshop". I was Puck. That's not really a reference to 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', it's a reference to 'Gargoyles', which was most excellent. I composed MIDI music for mods, levels, RPGs, etc. I interviewed some top 90's FPS game composers. It was a big deal.

While these pieces are not fantastic, I am proud of them. I was young and full of innocent creativity. My main influences were NIN, Danny Elfman, Kevin Schilder (Heretic Composer) and John Williams.

One of these songs was featured on the Baldur's Gate website in 1999. After several emails, they finally credited me.

The vault has been opened and adventure awaits, weary traveller. Follow the Futurewizard into the past!

Note: Most of these tracks haven't been mixed (or played) since the 90s. They aren't mixed down or mastered. The volume may be intense. Apologies for that. I'll get to that eventually!

These precious relics were stored on the Internet Archive of my website (circa 1999). .MID to .MP3 using the General MIDI Soundfont and VLC.

Cakewalk and my keyboard from 1997. I don't remember the brand.

I traded in my electric guitar for this MIDI keyboard and I haven't looked back since.

about

Futurewizard Vermont

I've been making music since I was a child. From midi music for Doom mods, to soundtracks to Meow Wolf art installations. I need to create constantly.

Some folks know me from my YouTube video, Waking Up Gary. I'm weird.

I'm feverishly into Drum and Bass, Grime, Ambient, IDM and film scores.

Notable influences are Aphex Twin, Trent Reznor, Joker, Noisia, Brian Eno, The Prodigy, Orbital.
